POSITION STATUS:
The main purpose of the Carrizo Gorge Railroad Police Department is expressed in the Mission
Statement: “Protecting International Commodities with Safety and Values." The Department serves
railroads in San Diego and Imperial Counties by performing law enforcement functions in a thorough
and professional manner.
Police Service Officer's serve as non-sworn staff in a support role for the Emergency Services
Department. Police Services Officer's may be assigned to one or more of the following duties:
Investigations, Administration, Primary Response Team (PRT), Fire Services and /or other Specialized
assignments.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Provide information, advice, and assistance to the public.
Conduct investigations and perform special assignments as directed.
May work an assigned area in a vehicle, on a Hy-Rail equipped vehicle, on a trains, or on foot.
Answer radio calls and respond to routine and /or emergency calls.
Prepare written reports and testify in court.
Perform fire suppression, Search and Rescue, as well as First Aid.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Class C Driver's License with a safe driving record.
Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
FILING DEADLINE:
This position is open until filled. Applications will be processed in the order received and accepted until
the needs of the Department are met.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Approved applicants will be measured on the basis of a Qualifications Appraisal Interview (weight
100%), which will evaluate the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the applicable position of.
Successful candidates will be placed on the eligible list for employment consideration for a period of 12
months based on measured scores. Future vacancies will be filled from this list. Highly rated candidates
may be scheduled for a background investigation.
