Track Laborer: A track laborer's job consists of repairing and rebuilding railroad track; using hand tools to do so. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following: removal and replacement of ties, pulling and driving spikes, shoveling rock ballast, loading and unloading equipment and material, maintenance of way, and various other tasks assigned by designated supervisor. Train Conductor: Responsible for the safe movement of freight trains and switching of cars in the yards. Specific functions will include frequently climbing ladders to board standing or moving cars, operating hand brakes, coupling air hoses between cars, operating track switches, inspecting cars, and using hand and lantern signals, radio communications. Train Brakemen: Responsible for the safe movement of freight trains and switching of cars in the yards.
